Wed 14th: Lecture. The History of the IGA. Dr Patrick Wyse Jackson. Apart from spotlighting the history of our Association, this will be an opportunity to interact with Patrick, who is writing a history of the IGA. Venue: Museum Building, TCD, 6pm.

Fri 17th :  Irish Geological Research Meeting in University College Cork.  8pm lecture is jointly sponsored by the IGA and the Cork Geological Association.   More information on this lecture and registration (free of charge) for the full weekend meeting will be available online in due course.

Saturday 25th :  King Solomon’s Mines:  the search for copper deposits in Zambia.  A full-day (Saturday) workshop in Dublin, presented by John Arthurs, Exploration Consultant.

Late Feb: IGA Golden Jubilee –  Event to mark publication of “History of IGA”, display of commemorative image by Camille Souter, and launch of competition for IGA Student Grant (Application Form available on www.geology.ie ).  Venue/date tbc.

March 2012

Sat 3rd : Field Trip. Bray Head Revisited. Leader: Dr Peter Haughton (UCD). The first IGA event, in February 1959, took place on Bray Head.

NOTE: Both members and non-members are welcome to attend Lectures – all are welcome.
